Reviews
A nice airport with great design & lovely mountain views. It's has nice food & drinks available with a decent selection in duty free the airport outside metal design seem like a mason thing but its everywhere these days. May Allah protect us
Arrival is ok, but departure is a huge pain. Especially if your flight sheduled for a late night or very early morning. Assume you had to drop off a rental car at 8-9pm (or tour operator transferred you at that time), but your flight at 3-4-5am. There are no seats to wait for checking/baggage drop. Tourists just laying on the floor. Toilets have no seats. Aiport is pretty much overloaded. Even after passing border control it’s almost impossible to find a place for rest. Long lines to toilets.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Had a very good experience traveling through Tirana International Airport. The airport was clean, modern, and well organized, making the whole journey smooth and stress-free. Check-in and security procedures were efficient, and everything was clearly signposted, making it easy to find the right gates and facilities. The terminal has a good selection of shops, cafés, and seating areas, which made waiting for the flight comfortable. The staff I encountered were helpful and professional, and the airport had a welcoming atmosphere from arrival to departure. I was also impressed by how easy it was to access the airport and how smoothly the boarding process was handled. Overall, a pleasant travel experience and a great gateway to Albania. I would happily travel through Tirana Airport again and would recommend it to anyone visiting the country.
Although this is a small airport, the security control lines are incredibly long. Even though there are six baggage screening machines available, only four seem to be operating, which makes the process extremely slow and inefficient. There are also very limited food options, so don't expect much variety if you have a long wait. The duty-free area is excessively expensive, and the airport layout itself is not very well designed. Everything feels small and poorly distributed, especially at the final departure area. Overall, it works, but there is definitely a lot of room for improvement
Tirana Airport is a super modern airport that is decorated really nicely, with a very unique and beautiful exterior. The airport itself is very clean and well maintained. Security and passport control are very efficient and quick, making the whole process smooth and stress free. The staff are also very nice and kind throughout. It is easy to get a SIM card, exchange money or withdraw cash from ATMs, which is very convenient for travellers. The duty free area is well stocked with a good range of products and some nice discounts available. For the negatives, it can be a bit difficult for tourists to find the buses into the city centre, and it is often easier to just take a taxi. The airport is also quite far from the centre which makes travel time longer. The toilets were slightly dirty and could do with better cleaning. There are no major branded shops or restaurants inside, which would be a nice addition. Food is also quite expensive compared to normal Albanian prices, often costing almost three times as much. Overall Tirana Airport is modern, efficient and clean, but could be improved with better transport clarity, cleaner facilities and more variety in food and shopping options.
