Reviews
We had a wonderful stay at this guesthouse. The accommodation was traditionally decorated, family friendly, very clean, and offered a truly authentic atmosphere. The food was fantastic, with delicious regional dishes prepared with great care and attention. You can really feel the effort and passion the family puts into every meal. What made our stay especially memorable, however, was the family running the guesthouse. Everyone was incredibly kind, welcoming, open minded, and always willing to help. They genuinely wanted to make sure their guests had the best possible experience. A well deserved 5 out of 5 stars. We can wholeheartedly recommend this place to anyone looking for authentic hospitality and a memorable stay.
This is an absolute hidden gem. We came here just for dinner. Upon arriving we immediately received a very warm welcome. It is a fixed meal with some varieties in options for the main dish, but it is so worth it!! We received 5 different courses and everything was just perfect. It is run by family who are very friendly. They also gave us some homemade raki which was great starter and finisher for the courses.
The hospitality in Albania is amazing. At Meles Guesthouse they take it to the next level. It literally feels like you’re invited into their home. Very nice and kind family with amazing food and home made raki. Felt like a once in a lifetime experience. Even if you don’t sleep in their Air BnB, they will happily welcome you for an amazing dinner. Loved every dish and every second of it.
Absolutely wonderful experience! It was a bit of a journey to find out where it’s located, but we let the owner know and he gladly helped us find the way through video call. He then came to us to park the car for us navigating the shallow streets of Gjirokaster. Once arrived he offered us tea and we got delicious mountain tea. In the morning we got served delicious traditional breakfast made by his wife, on a terrace with a beautiful view of the city. After check-out we again were able to video call the owner to help us navigate out of Gjirokaster. The only thing is the shower which didn’t have a consistent temperature, but honestly, what can you expect from a place in the mountains and for this price?! A nice touch to the room: the bed had decoration looking like mountains with lights behind it. And it had wine glasses hanging next to the bed!
Everything at Mele is fantastic, right from the start. Edmund and his family are brilliant and friendly hosts. Very helpful with any information and make you feel so welcome. Our room was lovely, clean, had a super bathroom and shower. We had our own terrace which was very relaxing. The bed was super comfortable too and there was air-con if needed and a fridge to keep your water (or beer) cold. The pool was always clean and was great to escape the heat - or sit by if you wanted to get some sun. It’s close to all the things you want to visit in the old town and the castle - and is a little stagger back from the bars - but is always quiet and relaxing in the surrounding area too. The breakfasts are delicious and have local delicacies and come with our favourite mountain tea. Everything is freshly cooked. You sit on the top terrace with superb views and you’re never rushed. We will miss staying here, and the beautiful view of the mountains opposite, but mostly we will miss their friendly hosting and the laughs we had with them all. Thank you!
