Reviews
Beautiful property. Poorly managed. We chose Manta Hotel because it appeared to be one of the premier hotels in Ksamil. To be fair, the photographs are accurate. The cove beach is beautiful, the waterfront deck is beautiful, and the location is excellent. If reviews were based solely on the physical property, this would be a much higher rating. Unfortunately, our experience was overshadowed by management’s inability or unwillingness to address repeated guest disturbances. Every night of our three-night stay, nearby beach clubs played music until midnight. While not ideal, we accepted that as part of the destination. The bigger issue was what happened after midnight. The same group of guests returned in the early morning hours each night, shouting between rooms, leaving doors open, playing music, and creating enough noise to repeatedly wake surrounding guests. We reported the issue after the first night. We reported it again after the second night. We reported it again after the third night. Nothing changed. Management was aware of the problem. Management knew who was causing the problem. Yet the behavior continued for the entirety of our stay. At that point, the issue stopped being about noisy guests and became about hotel management. Every hotel occasionally has difficult guests. The measure of a hotel is how it responds when those situations arise. In this case, the response was repeated apologies followed by no meaningful action. I do want to recognize several members of the staff who made a genuinely positive impression. Irida is worthy of working at a five-star hotel anywhere in the world. She was communicative, proactive, responsive, and consistently followed through on everything she said she would do. We encountered challenges booking ferries and obtaining information about local attractions, and she repeatedly took the initiative to make calls, send messages, and help coordinate solutions. Her professionalism and follow-through were exceptional, and she was one of the strongest hospitality professionals we encountered during our travels. Mella was equally impressive in a different way. She was warm, welcoming, and genuinely cared about guests. Whenever she did not immediately have an answer, she would take the time to investigate and return with useful information or assistance. She never made us feel like we were inconveniencing her and consistently demonstrated the kind of attentiveness and hospitality that guests hope to find when staying at a hotel. Bjori was friendly, professional, and sympathetic throughout our stay. He appeared to genuinely want to help and was the staff member most directly involved in addressing our concerns regarding the repeated disturbances. Unfortunately, it became clear that he simply was not empowered to solve the problem. He listened, communicated, and followed up, but meaningful decisions regarding accommodations or corrective action appeared to be beyond his authority. I came away feeling that he was placed in an impossible position—expected to absorb guest complaints without being given the authority to resolve them. My criticism is not directed at Irida, Mella, or Bjori. In fact, they were among the few bright spots during our stay. The shortcomings described in this review are management failures, not failures of the frontline staff. Manta has the physical ingredients of a great hotel. What it lacks is management willing to enforce basic standards of guest behavior and protect the experience of guests who are not there to party until sunrise. I would not stay here again, and prospective guests should understand that before booking. I think this version better reflects what you’re actually trying to communicate: Irida was exceptional, Mella was genuinely hospitable, Bjori cared but lacked authority, and management failed them all. That distinction makes the review feel fair, which in turn makes the criticism more persuasive.
