Description

Join Jaco and his family in Lazarat to explore a long-standing tradition of shepherding sheep and goats. The experience takes place inside and outside their cheese house, featuring a small family museum with traditional shepherding tools and objects used for generations.

Guests will taste seven artisanal dairy dishes made from fresh local ingredients following original family recipes. Offerings include cheeses like kackavalli and yellow cheese melted over fire, yogurt-based sauces, homemade butter, grilled wheat and corn bread, seasonal vegetables, sweet elements, and local beverages such as raki or fresh fruit juices. Each tasting is explained with details on recipes, ingredients, and preparation methods.

Live polyphonic music enriches the visit, performed either by the family or the nationally recognized Lazarat men’s polyphonic group depending on group size. Participants can actively engage by learning iso singing, connecting the cultural relationship between dairy traditions and this unique music style.
