Description
This 5-day tour starts in Tirana and explores southern Albania's key cultural and natural sites, suited for travelers interested in history, nature, and local culture.
Day 1: From Tirana, travel to Përmet, known for hospitality and cuisine. Relax in the hot thermal pools of Përmet, then walk the wooden paths of Redhit Hotova National Park. Visit Langarica Canyon, Këlcyra Gorge, Ottoman-era bridges including Ura e Katit, and Orthodox monasteries.
Day 2: After breakfast, explore Gjirokastra, also called 'The Stone City' and part of UNESCO World Heritage. Visit Gjirokastra Castle, dating to the 4th century AD, and the medieval bazaar. Stroll through the old town’s narrow stone streets.
Day 3: Travel to Vlora, the 'City of the Flag' where Albania declared independence in 1912. Visit Flag Square, the Independence Monument, Muradie neighborhood, and Vlora’s main mosque. Walk along Lungomare, the seaside promenade. Afternoon at leisure.
Day 4: Take a boat from Vlora to Karaburun Peninsula and Sazan Island. Stop for three hours to enjoy the crystal-clear waters at Karaburun Beach. Visit Haxhi Ali Cave, known as the Illyrian Cave, then continue to Sazan Island, Albania’s largest island and a current military base with bunkers. Return to Vlora at sunset.
Day 5: Visit Berat, the town of 1001 windows and a UNESCO World Heritage site. Explore the medieval castle, Orthodox churches, mosques, and old stone bridge. Walk the Gorica neighborhood and drive past Belsh Lake on the return to Tirana.
