This is the best best best Albanian food we ate!! I would love to give it 10 stars instead of 5. The owner is the cutest person here, the hospitality is absolutely beyond expectations. We had many experiences with food in the neighbourhood and Kardashi is absolutely the best! Big love ❤️❤️❤️ highly recommend. Very fresh food and great local drinks.
If you are visiting Gjirokastër and want an authentic, unforgettable dining experience, you absolutely have to visit Kardhashi Taverna. From the very moment we walked in, we were warmly welcomed and instantly made to feel right at home. The atmosphere is incredibly cozy, charming, and full of genuine hospitality. It truly felt like stepping into a grandma’s kitchen, wrapped in all the comforts of home. The food was nothing short of spectacular—100% homemade and cooked to perfection. We absolutely loved the moussaka, the sarma, and the stuffed peppers and aubergine. You can taste the love and tradition in every single bite. Combined with the friendly, attentive service, this was easily one of our favorite meals. Exceptional food, lovely people, and a wonderful vibe. We couldn't recommend it more!
It taste like home food. I totally recommand. Very welcoming. Such a beautifull people. I enjoyed it. I went for the moussaka, fried goat cheese, eggplants, Rice Ball with mint. All were serve with taziki that had a very good taste. I totally recommand.
I had an incredible dining experience at Kardashi in Gjirokastër. The baby lamb with chips was tender, juicy, and full of flavor, while the traditional Albanian platter showcased a variety of authentic dishes — from stuffed vegetables and pastries to creamy yogurt drizzled with olive oil. Every bite felt like a true taste of Albania. What really stood out was the warm welcome from Giulio, the host. He greeted us with a complimentary drink and cake, and his attentive service made the afternoon feel special. It’s rare to find a place where the food and hospitality are equally memorable, but Kardashi delivers both perfectly. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Gjirokastër who wants to enjoy traditional cuisine in a welcoming atmosphere.
We had a really nice meal at Taverna Kardhashi. The place has a warm, relaxed atmosphere and you can clearly feel that it’s a family-run business. They welcomed us with a small glass of homemade liqueur, which was a very nice and thoughtful touch. The food was simple, traditional, and very tasty. We tried the fresh salad, roasted meat with potatoes, and stuffed eggplant with yogurt, all well prepared and full of flavor. Everything felt homemade and authentic. It’s the kind of place where you can sit comfortably, enjoy traditional Albanian dishes, and have a pleasant meal without anything feeling rushed. A good spot if you’re looking for honest, traditional food and a friendly local atmosphere.
