Description

Starting the day, to go to Gjirokastër is approximately 2.5-3 hours of driving, with a stop in Tepelenë, near the shores of Vjosa River, one of the LAST Wild Rivers in Europe. First stop, Blue Eye natyral monument. Walking on the pedestrian area or taking a mini train to the bars and restaurants near the water source to enjoy a drink and some snacks after a long drive. Time spent on the place around 45 minutes without the train/walk part. Next stop, Gjirokaster Fortress. Expect breathtaking inside views of the fortress, which is located on the highest point of the Old Town, providing a strategic defence location offering breathtaking views of the city and mountains and valleys sourrounding it. Exploring the Fortress before going down, parking just in the center of the city, having the Old Town itself, it's bazaar, souvenir shops and anything you need for your emotional and material needs. After adventuring through narrow stone pathways, enjoying lunch like back in 1300s the drive back somehow doesn't feel too tiring anymore.
