The food was delicious. We tried the mixed traditional and then order’s eggplant. Everything was fantastic! The views of the castle made it more special. Desserts and coffee were also great! Come & enjoy! Friendly people too!
Delicious food and great views! This family run restaurant has some of the best homemade Albanian food I have eaten on my trip. The staff are very friendly and kind. The views of the castle are incredible, they kindly lent us binoculars too. Definitely recommend to anyone visiting Gjirokastër.
Excellent traditional Albanian food at Taverna Panorama Zhuli, in a quiet spot off the main bazaar. The view is incredible, looking out over the castle and the mountains, and it makes the whole meal special. Everything we ordered was fresh and tasty. The standouts were the qifqi, the local fried rice balls with a nice minty flavor, and the stuffed eggplant, which was outstanding. We also had the spec me gjizë, the peppers stuffed with curd cheese, which were good too. The eggplant and the qifqi were the best of the bunch. The people were super welcoming and friendly, and the whole place has a genuine, authentic feel. Highly recommend if you want real local cooking away from the tourist crowds, with a view you won't forget.
Do not let the long walk up the hill behind the castle deter you from having this traditional family experience. My partner and I met the families uncle that makes their wines and raki. The food is lovingly made by who we think is the grandma of the oh g women who served us and patiently described the dishes we ordered. The view is second to none. The host provided us with binoculars on our arrival. We cannot say about both the food and experience. If you are able to make the walk up the hill you will be well rewarded.
Had a wonderful experience here recently! Ares and the female host were both incredibly warm and welcoming. The food was wonderful, but it was the hospitality of the staff that made this place so memorable. We were also kindly treated to a complimentary dessert, and the view of the castle from the restaurant was beautiful. One of the best places to visit in Gjirokastër — especially before sunset to enjoy the stunning view! 🇦🇱✨
