Description

Visitors can enjoy magnificent vistas of the surrounding terrain in Kruja as well as a wide variety of historical sites. The first stop on the trip is the Castle of Kruja where The Skanderbeg museum is located in Kruja, making it the ideal location in Albania to learn about Gjergj Kastrioti Skanderbeg and Albanian history. For 25 years, Scanderbeg defeated three Ottoman sieges of Kruja and he stopped the Ottoman Empire's westward advance. Later, you'll also have a leisurely stroll around the ancient bazaar from the 15th to the 16th century to discover the world of Albanian arts and crafts. The Kruja castle is cleverly positioned atop a rocky hill, making it challenging for the adversaries to attack. You will pass through some secret passageways that the locals used to sneak out of the castle while the attackers were encircling it. One of Albania's most well-known markets is the Kruja Bazaar. The development of Kruj's charming and intriguing commercial district stretches back more than 400 years, and it served as the starting point for free trade among the most established vendors in the city. The Skanderbeg Museum is located in Kruja and is one of the most important and visited museums in Albania. The museum was inaugurated in 1982. The museum has the character of a memorial, architecturally inspired by traditional Albanian stone towers and medieval Romanesque architecture. The Ottoman troops attacked it thrice, in 1450, 1466 and 1467, but failed to take control. Next, we will visit the amphitheater of Durres, from the 2nd century AD with around 15,000-18,000 seats, the Roman forum, the Roman baths, the Venetian tower and the outer walls of ancient Durres.
