Description
Very soon after leaving Podgorica, climbing begins in the hilly and rugged regions, the region known as old Montenegro. After a nice half-hour drive through Montenegrin villages known for the production of wine and honey, we will reach one of the most beautiful viewpoints in the country. The view of the meanders of the submerged bed of the Crnojevića River and the Skadar Lake National Park will surely remain in your memory. 10 minutes later, continuing to drive through beautiful villages, we reach the former medieval capital of Montenegro, a small town on the shores of Skadar lake, Rijeka Crnojevića. It is the place where the first book in the South Slavic countries was printed, where the rulers happily rested, but also where exciting cruises on small local boats depart, which we highly recommend. Skadar Lake National Park is known for its biodiversity, numerous and diverse bird populations, and interesting vegetation. We will enjoy a leisurely walk and feel as if we are traveling back in time. Some half an hour later we will reach Cetinje, the most historically significant place in Montenegro, the old Montenegrin capital. Today it is a city of numerous museums, art faculties, and a beautifully preserved old core. We will walk through the historical center of the city, get acquainted with the way of life of the old Montenegrins, visit the Cetinje monastery, for a long time the residence of the Montenegrin rulers, which keeps some of the most precious Christian relics, and finally visit the former residence of the last Montenegrin king Nikola Petrović, today a wonderful museum whose exhibition will not leave you indifferent. During the tour, if you wish, we can stop by one of the small village wineries and taste very good local wines, enjoy a boat ride on Lake Skadar or discover the beauty of the famous Lipska Cave.Includes
