I roam around to the old town to find something to eat, but I think I am overwhelmed of everything so after I've been to the castle and all, I return and had my dinner with Taverna Lani. And I just made the right choice! Viktor can explain to you everything with what you need to try from the Appetizer, Main course and all. Thank you! Plus the owner, Is very welcoming too. Such a nice place to dine. Tradicionale foods are superb! 👌🏽 and very worth the price! As soon as I go back again, still Taverna Lani.
We stumbled upon this restaurant by accident while trying to find our way out of Gjirokaster. The owner helped us find parking for free and suggested we eat at his place. Honestly, the first time I had a “found a hiddem gem” moment. Don’t expect fancy silverware and complicated dishes, it’s home-made food and a familial atmosphere. The restaurant is run by the man and his family. The daughter even heard us speak Turkish and we had a nice chat. If you’re Middle Eastern or Balkan, you’ll find the taste of home with an Albanian twist here. We ate five dishes among the two of us and I think we even got complimentary pickled cabbage (because we didn’t outright order it). We had the salad jeshil, qofte, sarma, spinach byrek and hand cut fries. It was phenomenal!
A wonderful family-owned and operated restaurant that makes you feel right at home from the moment you arrive. We had some of the best traditional Albanian food of our entire trip here. The prices are very reasonable, which made it easy to try several different dishes, and every one was delicious. The rooftop view overlooking the castle made the experience even more special. We would absolutely recommend this place to anyone visiting!
Delicious traditional Albanian food, so so close to the castle. With really friendly staff and owner! Would be a shame to come here and miss it! Only have a photo of the Byrek mix, as it was all too delicious to take more photos.
